The Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development is the central specialized body, which promotes state policy in the field of infrastructure and regional development and operates in accordance with the Constitution and Laws of the Republic of Moldova, Parliamentary Decisions, Acts of the President of the Republic of Moldova, Government Decisions and Orders, as well as other normative acts.
THE MINISTRY PERFORMS THE FUNCTIONS IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS:
ROAD INFRASTRUCTURE
- Rehabilitation, modernization and expansion of the national road network;
- Establishing a sustainable mechanism for financing the maintenance of public roads and increasing the responsibility for their administration;
- Improving road safety.
WATER AND SANITATION
- Ensuring access to aqueducts and safe sanitary systems;
- Strengthening the capacity of water supply and sewage service providers;
- Increasing investments in water supply and sanitation infrastructure;
- Sewerage and wastewater treatment in small towns.
TRANSPORT
- Development of railway transport;
- Development of air transport;
- Development of waterborne transport;
- Development of road transport and road infrastructure.
CONSTRUCTION
- Development of the field of land use planning and urbanism;
- Ensuring quality assurance system in construction;
- Managing and ensuring access to safe, accessible and connected to utilities modern housing.
REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND INFRASTRUCTURE
- Development of the legal framework;
- Enhancement of the regions competitiveness;
- Implementation of urban development policy;
- Development of regional infrastructure;
- Rehabilitation of social infrastructures.
